How to Transfer Your Stamps.com Account Data to a New Computer

Before continuing, please take note of your User Name and Password as they will be needed to re-register your Stamps.com account.

First, make a backup copy of your Stamps.com address book and/or Printed Postage History:

  1. Create a new folder on your Desktop and name it Stamps.com Temp.
  2. Open your Stamps.com program, and click on address book.
  3. Within your address book, click on Export. Windows will ask you to save the file. Navigate to the Stamps.com Temp folder, and save the exported file within the folder.
  1. Go to Start > Search > All files and folders (Or Start > Find > Files or Folders for older versions of Windows).
  2. Search for print*.dbf, and copy all of the files you find to the Stamps.com Temp folder on your Desktop.
  1. Burn the Stamps.com Temp folder to a CD-ROM, so we can load it into your new computer.

(NOTE: The procedures above may be followed as well if you decide to save the information to a floppy, flash
drive or other medium.)

Second, download and install the Stamps.com software from our website to your new computer:

Download the latest version of Stamps.com (found at http://www.stamps.com/download/)

After you finish downloading the file, there should be an icon on your desktop (or wherever you chose to save it) named stamps.exe. Simply double-click that icon to begin the installation process.

If you cannot find where you saved the file, you can do a search on your computer for stamps.exe. To do this, click on your Windows Start button and select Find > Files or Folders. In the Named: field, type stamps.exe. In the Look in: field, select the item that says C: drive or Local hard drives, then click the Find Now button. When you find the file, simply double-click it to begin installation. When it asks if you have an account, choose Yes, and follow the on-screen prompts.

Third, restore the backup copy of your address book and printing logs to your new computer:

  1. On your computer keyboard, press the Windows+R keys (the Windows key is typically found between the Ctrl and Alt keys). In the Run window, type %appdata%, and then click OK. This will open the Applications Data folder.
  1. In the Applications Data folder, locate and open the Stamps.com Internet Postage folder. If you do not see this folder, right click inside the folder and choose properties. Uncheck the Hidden option and click apply.
  2. In the Stamps.com folder, locate and open the Print History folder. If you do not see this folder, create one.
  3. Move or copy the print*.dbf files into the Print History folder. Answer Yes to overwrite the existing file(s).
  4. Open your Stamps.com program, and login with your username and password. Open your Address Book and click on Import.
  5. Select Stamps.com as the import type.
  6. Navigate and locate the file named Ipostage.csv (located in the Stamps.com Temp folder on your CD), then click Next, and then Finish.

You should notice that everything is there and ready to go. If so, you are all finished!
