How to use Custom Envelopes with Stamps.com

Remember that you can use NetStamps on any envelope, just like a regular stamp. If you choose to print postage on custom-sized envelopes, use our Custom Mailpiece Manager to configure your printer.
- From the main menu, click the POSTAGE tab, then MAILING or SHIPPING.
- Enter a Delivery Address by either selecting one or more from an Address Book, or by typing an address directly into the "Delivery Address" box.
- Click on the small envelope icon (to the right of the Printing On pull down menu) to access the Custom Mailpiece Manager.
- In the Custom Mailpiece Manager dialogue box, click the "Add" button.
- Now enter a name for the custom envelope template you are about to create. Make it something that you will recognize easily when it comes time to print postage.
- As soon as you enter a name for the envelope template, the "Next" button becomes available. Click it to get to the next window where you will now enter the measurements of the envelope in question. If you don't have a ruler on hand, you can print a graduated ruler from this screen by clicking the "Print Ruler" button.
- Make sure that you enter the measurements of your envelope correctly and then click the "Next" button.
- Now select the printer and paper tray you will be feeding your custom envelopes into and click "Next."
- This next step is vital: cut a plain sheet of paper to match the dimensions of your custom envelope to use for the print test. DO NOT feed your custom through the printer for the print test, especially if this is the only envelope of this size you have.
- Feed the cut piece of plain paper into your printer according to the instructions on the screen. Now click "Next" to test the envelope template you've created.
- Now compare your printed sample to the image on the screen. If all 4 elements show up as indicated, then click "Yes" and then "Next." If something is missing, you can click "No" or you can click "Back" to go back to step 6 and redo your template.
- The next screen asks you to double-check the placement of the stamp and the Facing Identification Mark (FIM) on your sample envelope. Click "Yes" and then "Next" to proceed.
- Take note of the information regarding paper color on the next screen then click "Finish."
- You are returned to the Custom Mailpiece Manager screen where you can now see your custom template. Highlight the name of the custom template by clicking on it. Now click "Close."
- You are returned to the MAILING or SHIPPING screen. Notice that in the "Printing On" window the dimensions of your custom envelope are now displayed.
- Now finish selecting your postage options, load your actual custom envelope into your printer and click "Print" at the bottom of the screen.
NOTE: the next time you want to print a custom envelope just like the one you just created, all you need to do is select the existing custom template from the Custom Mailpiece Manager screen.
